(c. 1855) and the style is Louis XVI.The mantel clock is made of the finest Carrara marble and decorated with beautiful bronze ornaments.The porcelain dial has dark blue Roman numerals and the brass gilt hands are fantastic !The porcelain dial is signed with "Ceanet" and is covered by a bent glass. Jacques Ceanet was one of the most famous clock makers in France at that time.The representation on the clock is a bronze cherub with a dark brown patina standing on a few books and holding a bronze rooster.The rooster is a national symbol of freedom in France.The back plate of the bronze movement is signed with" Japy Freres-1855-Medaille d'Honneur".This clock has won a Medal of Honour in 1855.Perfect running and striking condition with 8 days going work and the 1/1 and 1/2 hours striking on a bronze silvered bell.This real beautiful museumpiece of an absolutely rare mantel clock is in complete original and excellent condition.This clock is everywhere an absolutely eye catcher, and a real collector piece that you will never get again.Wherever you put this clock you can bet it will be the topic of conversation among your friends and family!
